Weird 409 distinguished himself early in his career, becoming “verrichtingstopper” in the 2003 Central Performance Test, with top marks for his show presentation (9.0) and trot (8.3). In competitive driving, he attained his Sport predicate, notably competing in the “Ereklasse tuigen” class under Frits de Jong. He was also featured in high-profile performances, such as the Faderpaard musical, where he was ridden by top riders like Adelinde Cornelissen.

In late 2016, Wierd 409 was imported to Doorndraai Friesian Stud in South Africa, where he joined the breeding program. Unfortunately, after health problems related to heart, he passed away on 18 July 2020 at the age of 21.

Despite his passing, his influence continues through his progeny and his contribution to the Friesian gene pool, immortalized in pedigrees of later KFPS stallions. At Doorndraai we will continue with his legacy through two beautiful daughters, Ella and Elsje van Doorndraai. Elsje became crown at the 2025 home judging in South-Africa in 2025.
