Rita van Geyerspan was a dependable, kind-natured mare whose steady temperament and functional build made her a valued part of our herd during her time with us. She had the unmistakable presence of an experienced Friesian mare, calm, balanced and grounded, with a soft eye that reflected her gentle nature.

Her temperament was one of her defining strengths. Rita was patient, composed and deeply people-focused. She adjusted easily to routine, accepted handling without fuss and held a calm energy that brought stability to the mares around her. These traits made her a pleasure to work with and a reassuring presence within the herd.

Rita’s maternal influence lives on through the offspring and family members connected to her dam line. The Geyerspan line is known for hardiness and emotional steadiness, and Rita carried these traits forward with quiet consistency. Her contribution may not have been flashy, but it was meaningful, the kind of genetic stability that strengthens a broodmare band from the inside out.

Though she has passed, Rita van Geyerspan remains part of our stud’s history. Her years with us were marked by reliability, kindness and the steady temperament that defines a good Friesian mare. She leaves behind a small but important legacy in our programme, and her presence is remembered with appreciation.
