Elsje van Doorndraai is one of only two fillies sired by Wierd 409 in South Africa, making her pedigree especially meaningful to us. Losing her dam, Mintsje van Doorndraai, to colic in 2018 was a significant heartbreak, and Elsje has carried that line forward with real promise. She has grown into a powerful, expressive mover and confirmed her ability in 2025 when she earned 82.5 for her IBOP under Ludo van der Weide.

At the 2025 inspection she advanced to Crown status, adding another high-quality mare to our breeding programme. Elsje has a willing, forward-thinking temperament, making her a pleasure to work with and a reliable partner in training. Her first planned pairing will be with Foeke 520 this year, and we look forward to seeing what this combination will bring.

Elsje represents both the rarity of her sire line and the continuation of a dam line we valued deeply, making her an important mare for Doorndraai’s future.

We are very excited to announce that Elsje is in foal to Foeke 520, due later this year (2026)
