Friso fan S. was the most recognisable Doorndraai Horse for more than a decade.  He unfortunately passed away in 2022 and left a gaping hole at the stud.

After a few busy years in dressage and showing Marlise decided to retire Friso in 2016 from competition. Friso fan S. ‘Sport’ was always a crowd favorite at shows.

Friso fan S. moved up to Advanced dressage in 2015 trained and ridden by Alida De Jager.  Since ariving in South Africa 24 August 2004, Friso fan S. has been a crowd favorite thrilling Friesian Fans with his big personality.  People would drive from all over Gauteng and South Africa to see this special horse perform and it was a very difficult decision to retire him in 2016.  He spent the remainder of his days grazing in his paddock and being spoilt by everyone.

About Friso fan S. ‘Sport’

Friso fan S. achieved the ‘Sport’ status in 2014 (riden by Alida De Jager) after performing very well in dressage for the 2013/2014 season.

Friso fan S. became the first foalbook stallion in the world, to have a mare bred by him receiving ‘Kroon’ status. Pandora v Doorndraai achieved 79.5% in her IBOP test riden by Jolanda Schreuder in February 2013.

Friso fan S. also made history in 2014 at the ‘Horse of the Year show’ held at KEP when he was the first Friesian to qualify for ‘three’ All Breed Supreme Championships, placing in the top five for the Under Saddle and winning the Supreme Single Harness.

Friso fan S. has over the years won 24 FPSSA National Championship titles, 12 FPSSA National Reserve Championship titles as well as 23 Horse of the Year Championship titles, 5 Horse of the Year Reserve Champion titles and placed in the top 5 of the Horse of the Year Supreme Championship Under Saddle three times!  These staggeringly good results shows the quality of this superb stallion!
